Juicy, garlicky steak bites served over velvety mashed potatoes—a restaurant-quality meal in 30 minutes!
Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Serves: 4
Ingredients
For the Garlic Butter Beef Bites:
- 1 lb (450g) sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp dried)
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:
- 1.5 lbs (700g) Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½ cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the Mashed Potatoes
- Boil potatoes in salted water for 12-15 mins until fork-tender. Drain.
- Mash with butter, cream, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Cover to keep warm.
2. Sear the Beef Bites
- Pat steak very dry (key for browning). Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear beef in batches for 1-2 mins per side until browned but medium-rare inside. Transfer to a plate.
3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
- Reduce heat to medium. Melt 2 tbsp butter in the same skillet.
- Add garlic and thyme, sautéing for 30 seconds until fragrant (don’t burn!).
- Stir in remaining 1 tbsp butter and lemon juice (if using). Return beef to the pan, tossing to coat.
4. Serve
- Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, top with beef bites and garlic butter sauce.
- Garnish with parsley and extra black pepper.
Tips for Success
- Steak choice: Ribeye = richer flavor; sirloin = leaner but still tender.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan—sear in batches for the best crust.
- Creamier potatoes? Warm the cream before mixing.
- Pair with: Roasted asparagus or a crisp green salad.
This dish is decadent yet simple—the kind of meal that feels special but comes together fast. Enjoy! 😋🔥
