Ingredients:
4 hot dog buns
4 hot dogs
100g cheddar cheese, grated
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp pickles, finely chopped
2 tbsp mustard
2 tbsp mayonnaise
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Crispy Onions: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and cook until golden and crispy, about 10 minutes. Set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Make the Pickle Mustard Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the chopped pickles, mustard, and mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
Cook the Hot Dogs: Boil or grill the hot dogs according to the package instructions.
Toast the Buns: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the inside of the hot dog buns with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes, until slightly crisp and golden.
Assemble the Hot Dogs: Place a cooked hot dog in each bun. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the hot dogs, then return to the oven for 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
Add the Toppings: Spoon the pickle mustard sauce over the melted cheese. Top with the crispy onions.
Serve: Serve the cheesy hot dogs immediately, while the cheese is still warm and gooey.
