Cook Time: 20–25 minutes

🧾 Ingredients

For the Steaks:

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups beef broth (or water with bouillon)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Steaks

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until combined (don’t overmix).
  3. Shape into 4 oval patties.

2️⃣ Cook the Steaks

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon butter or oil.
  2. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, until browned (they’ll finish cooking in the gravy). Remove and set aside.

3️⃣ Make the Onion Gravy

  1. In the same skillet, add remaining butter or oil.
  2. Sauté onions for 5–7 minutes, until soft and caramelized.
  3. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to coat. Cook 1–2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.
  4. Slowly add beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer 3–5 minutes, until thickened.

4️⃣ Combine

  1. Return the steaks to the gravy.
  2. Simmer 5–7 minutes until the steaks are fully cooked and flavorful.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Spoon steaks with gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

💡 Tips & Variations

  • Extra savory: Add 1 tsp Dijon mustard or a splash of soy sauce to gravy
  • Low-carb: Skip breadcrumbs, add 1 tbsp almond flour
  • Make ahead: Steaks can be shaped and refrigerated for 1 day, cook fresh
  • Creamy gravy option: Add ¼ cup heavy cream at the end
