Ingredients:
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 slices of thick bread (preferably brioche or challah)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
Maple syrup, for serving
Fresh berries, for garnish (optional)
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Dip the Bread: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. While the butter is melting, dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated. Allow any excess mixture to drip off.
Cook the French Toast: Place the soaked bread slices on the hot skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Cook in batches, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
Serve: Serve the French toast hot with a drizzle of maple syrup. Garnish with fresh berries and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
