- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef (at least 90% lean)
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats, uncooked
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper (any color), finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, oats, skim milk, egg, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Shape the Meatloaf:
- Transfer the meatloaf mixture to a lightly greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet.
- Top with Ketchup:
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top of the meatloaf for added flavor.
- Bake:
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Rest and Slice:
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
