Ingredients:
• 4 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your choice)
• 4 tablespoons butter
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/4 cup chopped pecans
• 1/4 cup caramel sauce
• Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Core the apples, making sure to remove all the seeds and creating a small well in the center of each apple.
3. Place the apples on a cutting board. Starting from the top, slice down through the apple but not all the way to the bottom, making thin slices all around.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
5. Place the apples in a baking dish and fill each apple with the butter mixture, ensuring it gets into the slices.
6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the apples.
7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the tops are golden brown.
8. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the baked apples and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
