Ingredients:
- Bread Slices: 6 pieces (crusts removed and cut into triangles).
- Clarified Butter (or Unsalted Butter): For shallow frying.
- Whole Milk: 1 Liter (Full cream).
- Granulated Sugar: ½ cup (adjust to your preference).
- Cardamom Powder: ½ teaspoon.
- Premium Saffron Strands: A generous pinch.
- Assorted Nuts: Sliced almonds and pistachios for garnishing.
- Edible Silver Leaf: Optional, for a professional finishing touch.
- Condensed Milk: ¼ cup (optional, for extra creaminess and sweetness).
Instructions:
- Thicken the Milk: In a large, heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil. Add the saffron strands and cardamom powder. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the milk reduces to half its original volume and becomes thick and creamy. (If using condensed milk, add it now and mix well).
- Fry the Bread: Heat the butter in a flat pan over medium heat. Fry the bread triangles until they turn perfectly golden brown and crispy on both sides. Drain any excess butter.
- The Sweet Soak: Briefly dip the fried bread slices into a light warm sugar syrup (made by dissolving sugar in equal parts water) for about 5 seconds, then arrange them on a serving platter.
- Assembly: Pour the thickened saffron milk generously over the arranged bread slices, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Garnish: Decorate with plenty of sliced almonds and pistachios. For that high-end look, apply a few pieces of edible silver leaf.
Serve warm for the best experience!
