Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket are a delightful twist on the classic, made with breakfast sausage and a buttery, flaky exterior—perfect for a grab-and-go breakfast or a cozy brunch.

Ingredients:

1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough

8 fully cooked breakfast sausages (links or patties shaped into logs)

1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (optional, for brushing)

1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for filling)

1 large egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Prepare the Dough:

Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the perforations.

If using shredded cheddar, sprinkle a little cheese on the wider end of each triangle.

Wrap the Sausages:

Place a sausage link at the wide end of each triangle. Roll the dough around the sausage, tucking in the sides as needed to seal.

Place the wrapped sausages seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush with Egg Wash:

Lightly brush each wrapped sausage with the beaten egg to give them a golden, shiny finish when baked.

Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.

Add the Final Touch:

If desired, brush the tops with warm maple syrup or honey immediately after baking for a sweet glaze.

Serve:

Serve warm with additional maple syrup or honey on the side for dipping.
