Ingredients
- 1 large green cabbage, sliced into thick rounds
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ½ small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray.
2. Prepare Cabbage Steaks
- Slice cabbage into thick rounds (about 1 inch thick)
- Place on tray
- Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt
- Roast for 15 minutes until slightly tender
3. Cook the Beef
- In a pan, cook ground beef with onions and garlic
- Add salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning
- Cook until browned
- Drain excess grease
4. Assemble
- Remove cabbage from oven
- Top each piece with cooked beef
- Spoon marinara sauce over each
- Sprinkle mozzarella + parmesan on top
5. Bake Again
Return to oven and bake for 15–20 minutes until:
- Cheese is melted and bubbly
- Edges are slightly crispy
6. Serve
- Garnish with fresh parsley
- Serve hot
