🧾 Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (or water)
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

For the filling:

  • 400–500 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp paprika or chili flakes
  • 1 tsp cumin (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

For topping:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Extra cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the dough

  • Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast → rest 5–10 minutes
  • Add flour, salt, and oil → knead into soft dough
  • Cover and let rise for 1 hour (until doubled)

2. Prepare filling

  • In a pan, cook beef with onion and garlic
  • Add spices, cook until browned
  • Let it cool slightly

3. Roll & fill

  • Roll dough into a large rectangle
  • Spread meat evenly across the surface
  • Sprinkle cheese on top

4. Shape

  • Roll tightly into a log (like in the picture)
  • Place seam-side down on a baking tray

5. Bake

  • Brush with egg wash
  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes
  • Add extra cheese on top in last 5 minutes if you want it extra cheesy

🍽️ Serve

  • Slice into thick rolls
  • Garnish with parsley
  • Serve hot while cheese is melted

  • Add ketchup or chili sauce inside for extra flavor
  • Use puff pastry instead of dough for a quicker version
