🥢 Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • ½ head green cabbage, shredded
  • ½ jalapeño pepper, finely diced

Simple Stir-Fry Sauce (recommended)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but very authentic)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for light thickening)
  • Black pepper to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken
    • Heat butter in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add sliced chicken and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until lightly golden.
    • Remove chicken and set aside.
  2. Aromatics
    • In the same pan, add onion and sauté for 2 minutes until softened.
    • Add garlic and jalapeño; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Cabbage
    • Add shredded cabbage.
    • Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly wilted but still crisp.
  4. Combine
    • Return chicken to the pan.
    • Pour in the stir-fry sauce.
    • Toss everything together and cook 2–3 minutes until glossy and cooked through.
  5. Serve
    • Taste and adjust seasoning.
    • Serve hot over steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.

  • No butter? Use oil for a more traditional Chinese taste.
  • Extra protein: Add an egg and scramble before adding cabbage.
