Fluffy Homemade Buns Recipe

Quick Description:

These soft, fluffy homemade buns are perfect for sandwiches, burgers, or as a side to any meal. With a light, airy texture and a golden, shiny top, they are irresistible!

Servings & Timing:

  • Servings: 8 buns
  • Prep Time: 1 hour
  • Cook Time: 15-18 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients List:

  • 2 ยฝ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp instant yeast
  • ยฝ cup milk (warm)
  • ยผ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • ยฝ cup water (warm)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for greasing)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a small bowl, combine warm water (not too hot) with sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and stir to dissolve. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Stir with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, but avoid adding too much.
  4. Let it Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the Buns: Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  6. Second Rise: Cover the buns with a cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffy and doubled in size.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  8. Brush with Butter (Optional): As soon as the buns are out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter for a shiny, soft finish.

Additional Notes:

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 1 month.
  • Topping Variations: For a sweet touch, you can sprinkle a bit of sugar or sesame seeds on top before baking.
