Quick Description

Lemon powder is made from dried lemon peel or whole lemon slices ground into a fine powder. It adds bright citrus flavor to drinks, desserts, marinades, seasonings, and even baking recipes โ€” without needing fresh lemons every time.

What You Need

  • 4โ€“6 fresh lemons
  • Knife
  • Baking tray
  • Oven or dehydrator
  • Blender or spice grinder
  • Airtight jar

Method 1: Using Lemon Peels (Best Flavor)

1. Wash the Lemons

Wash thoroughly and dry completely.

2. Peel the Lemons

Use a peeler to remove only the yellow skin.
Avoid the white part (pith) โ€” it tastes bitter.

3. Dry the Peels

Place peels on a baking tray.

Dry in oven at 170ยฐF (75ยฐC) for 1โ€“2 hours until completely dry and crisp.
Or use a dehydrator at low heat.

They should snap easily when ready.

4. Grind

Place dried peels in a blender or spice grinder.
Blend until a fine powder forms.

5. Store

Store in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place.

Shelf life: up to 6 months.

Method 2: Using Whole Lemon Slices

  1. Slice lemons thinly.
  2. Remove seeds.
  3. Dry slices in oven at low temperature until fully dry (2โ€“3 hours).
  4. Grind into powder.

This method gives a slightly stronger and slightly bitter flavor.
