No-Knead Dutch Oven Bread (Crispy Artisan Loaf)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water

Instructions

1. Mix the Dough

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and yeast.
  • Add warm water and mix with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel.
  • Let rest for 12–18 hours at room temperature (no kneading needed!).

2. Preheat the Oven

  • Place a Dutch oven (with lid) inside the oven.
  • Preheat to 450°F (230°C) for at least 30 minutes.

3. Shape the Dough

  • Lightly flour a surface.
  • Gently turn the dough out and shape into a round ball.
  • Place on parchment paper and cover for 20–30 minutes.

4. Bake

  • Carefully remove hot Dutch oven from the oven.
  • Lift dough using parchment and place inside.
  • Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and bake an additional 12–15 minutes until browned and crispy.

5. Cool & Serve

  • Remove bread from the pot and cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.
  • Slice and enjoy!

Tips

  • For extra flavor: add garlic powder, herbs, or cheese.
  • For a stronger crust: mist dough lightly with water before baking.
  • For higher protein: swap 1 cup flour with vital wheat gluten or white whole wheat flour.
