Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water
Instructions
1. Mix the Dough
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm water and mix with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a towel.

Let rest for 12–18 hours at room temperature (no kneading needed!).
2. Preheat the Oven
- Place a Dutch oven (with lid) inside the oven.
- Preheat to 450°F (230°C) for at least 30 minutes.
3. Shape the Dough
- Lightly flour a surface.
- Gently turn the dough out and shape into a round ball.
- Place on parchment paper and cover for 20–30 minutes.
4. Bake
- Carefully remove hot Dutch oven from the oven.
- Lift dough using parchment and place inside.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake an additional 12–15 minutes until browned and crispy.
5. Cool & Serve
- Remove bread from the pot and cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice and enjoy!
Tips
- For extra flavor: add garlic powder, herbs, or cheese.
- For a stronger crust: mist dough lightly with water before baking.
- For higher protein: swap 1 cup flour with vital wheat gluten or white whole wheat flour.
