Hot and melty Italian subs loaded with deli meats, cheese, and peppers – baked to golden perfection!
Ingredients
→ Bread
4 hinged hoagie rolls
→ Deli Meats
8 ounces sliced deli ham
8 ounces sliced salami
8 ounces sliced roast beef or cooked ground beef
4 ounces sliced pepperoni
→ Cheese
8 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
→ Vegetables
½ cup pickled banana peppers or pepperoncini
½ cup sautéed onions
→ Seasoning and Butter
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons melted butter
Steps
Heat oven to 375°F.
Slice each hoagie roll lengthwise, making sure not to cut completely through so the rolls remain hinged.
Arrange ham, salami, roast beef (or cooked ground beef), and pepperoni inside each hoagie roll.
Place two slices of cheese on top of the meats in each sandwich. Add banana peppers and sautéed onions if using.
Place filled sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush tops of rolls with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning.
Cover sandwiches loosely with foil and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and fillings are heated through.
Uncover and bake for another 2-3 minutes until roll tops are golden and crisp.
Serve hot with chips, olives, or a fresh side salad as desired.
Tips
- Keep rolls hinged for structural integrity and easy assembly
- Sautéed onions add rich flavor but can be omitted for a milder taste
