Ingredients
Garlic Bread
- 1 large Italian bread loaf or French bread
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Cheesesteak Filling
- 1 lb ribeye steak or shaved steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Cheese
- 8 slices provolone cheese
(or mozzarella / white American)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Garlic Bread
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice bread lengthwise, keeping halves intact.
- Mix butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Spread generously over both cut sides of bread.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake 8–10 minutes until lightly golden.
2. Cook the Cheesesteak Filling
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add onions and peppers; sauté 5–6 minutes until softened.
- Add steak, garlic powder, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.
- Cook 3–4 minutes, stirring until steak is just cooked.
- Remove from heat.
3. Assemble the Loaf
- Remove garlic bread from oven.
- Spoon steak mixture evenly over the bread halves.
- Lay provolone slices on top, covering all the filling.
4. Melt the Cheese
- Return to oven and bake 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for golden cheese (watch closely).
5. Serve
- Let rest 2–3 minutes.
- Slice and serve hot.
