Ingredients
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 6 oz crab meat, drained and shredded
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp soy sauce
For Wrapping & Frying
- 1 package wonton wrappers (about 30–40 pieces)
- 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
For Serving
- Sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili sauce

Make the filling
In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Mix until smooth and creamy. -
Fill the wontons
Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture to the center. -
Seal
Lightly moisten the edges with water. Fold diagonally into a triangle and press to seal.
Optional: Crimp edges with a fork or bring corners together for a classic rangoon shape. -
Repeat
Continue filling and sealing until all wrappers are used. -
Fry
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan. -
Drain
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. -
Serve
Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili sauce.
Additional Notes
- Shortcut Tip: Imitation crab works great and is budget-friendly.
- Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of white pepper or a dash of sesame oil.
- Baking Option: Brush with oil and bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping once.
Storage & Meal Prep
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2–3 days.
- Reheat in an air fryer or oven for best crispiness.
- Unfried, filled wontons can be frozen and fried straight from frozen.
