Ingredients

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 oz crab meat, drained and shredded
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp soy sauce

For Wrapping & Frying

  • 1 package wonton wrappers (about 30–40 pieces)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying

For Serving

  • Sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Make the filling
    In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  2. Fill the wontons
    Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture to the center.
  3. Seal
    Lightly moisten the edges with water. Fold diagonally into a triangle and press to seal.
    Optional: Crimp edges with a fork or bring corners together for a classic rangoon shape.
  4. Repeat
    Continue filling and sealing until all wrappers are used.
  5. Fry
    Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  6. Drain
    Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve
    Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili sauce.

  • Shortcut Tip: Imitation crab works great and is budget-friendly.
  • Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of white pepper or a dash of sesame oil.
  • Baking Option: Brush with oil and bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping once.
