Thinly sliced potatoes layered with rich caramelized onion flavor and baked in a creamy, cheesy sauce—finished with a crispy golden top that’s irresistibly comforting.

 Ingredients:
✦ 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
✦ 1 large onion, thinly sliced
✦ 2 tbsp butter
✦ 200ml heavy cream
✦ 100ml milk
✦ 150g Gruyère or cheddar cheese, shredded
✦ 40g parmesan cheese
✦ 2 cloves garlic, minced
✦ 1 tsp thyme
✦ 1/2 tsp salt
✦ 1/2 tsp black pepper

 Instructions:

– Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.

– In a pan, melt butter and cook onions slowly until deeply caramelized.

– Stir in garlic and cook briefly.

– In a bowl, mix cream, milk, thyme, salt, and pepper.

– Layer half of the potatoes in the baking dish.

– Add caramelized onions and a portion of cheese.

– Layer remaining potatoes and pour cream mixture evenly over.

– Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

– Remove foil, top with remaining cheese and parmesan.

– Bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
