Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

1. Melt the Chocolate

  • Add the chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth.
  • Set aside to cool slightly (but not harden).

2. Whip the Cream

  • In a separate large bowl, whip the heavy cream until medium-stiff peaks form.
  • Put in the fridge while preparing the base.

3. Make the Mousse Base

  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft and creamy.
  • Add the melted (cooled) chocolate and beat again until smooth.

4. Fold in the Whipped Cream

  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture using a spatula.
  • Mix until fully incorporated, smooth, and airy.

5. Assemble the Cups

  • Spoon or pipe the mousse into cups.
  • Top with whipped cream.
  • Add chocolate shavings on top.

6. Chill

  • Refrigerate for 2–3 hours before serving for the perfect mousse texture.

Storage

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Mousse can also be frozen for up to 1 month (thaw 20 minutes before serving).
