Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream (cold)
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream for topping
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
1. Melt the Chocolate
- Add the chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth.
- Set aside to cool slightly (but not harden).
2. Whip the Cream
- In a separate large bowl, whip the heavy cream until medium-stiff peaks form.
- Put in the fridge while preparing the base.
3. Make the Mousse Base
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft and creamy.
- Add the melted (cooled) chocolate and beat again until smooth.
4. Fold in the Whipped Cream
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture using a spatula.
- Mix until fully incorporated, smooth, and airy.
5. Assemble the Cups
- Spoon or pipe the mousse into cups.
- Top with whipped cream.
- Add chocolate shavings on top.
6. Chill
- Refrigerate for 2–3 hours before serving for the perfect mousse texture.
Storage
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Mousse can also be frozen for up to 1 month (thaw 20 minutes before serving).
