Ingredients
For the Falafel
- 2 cups dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 1 medium onion
- 3โ4 garlic cloves
- ยฝ cup fresh parsley or coriander
- ยฝ cup fresh mint
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- Pinch of chili flakes
- 1 tbsp flour (optional)
- Oil for frying
For the Hummus
- 1 cup boiled chickpeas
- 2 tbsp tahini paste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove
- Pinch of salt
- 1โ2 tbsp ice-cold water (if needed)
Instructions
Prepare the Falafel
Blend the mixture
Add soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, and mint into a food processor. Pulse until the texture looks coarse, not completely smooth.
Season & chill
Mix in salt, cumin, coriander powder, chili flakes, and flour. Chill the mixture for 30 minutes for better texture.
Shape & fry
Form small falafel balls and deep fry until golden brown and crispy.
Prepare the Hummus
Blend until creamy
Add boiled chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt into a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Adjust texture
Add ice-cold water if needed for a silky restaurant-style hummus.
Assemble the Platter
Arrange crispy falafels with creamy hummus, warm pita bread, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and fresh herbs for a beautiful Mediterranean-style platter
