Capture 7 Blog

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (80/20 for extra flavor)
16-24 slices pepperoni (sugar-free or low-carb)
1/2 cup sugar-free pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional toppings: sliced black olives, mushrooms, or spinach
4 large portobello mushroom caps OR low-carb burger buns (check for 3g-4g net carbs per bun)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Beef Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Form the mixture into 4 even patties.
Step 2: Prepare the Keto “Bun”

Option 1: Portobello Mushroom Caps
Clean 4 large portobello mushrooms. Remove stems and scrape out the gills.
Brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill or bake them for 5-7 minutes until slightly tender.
Option 2: Low-Carb Buns
Toast keto-friendly buns in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes until slightly crispy.
Step 3: Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
Cook each patty for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through to your liking.
During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of mozzarella cheese on top to melt.
Step 4: Heat the Pizza Sauce

While the patties are grilling, warm the sugar-free pizza sauce in a saucepan over low heat.
Step 5: Assemble the Keto Pizza Burgers

Layer 1: Place a grilled portobello cap or low-carb bun on the bottom.
Layer 2: Add the grilled beef patty with melted mozzarella cheese.
Layer 3: Spoon a tablespoon of pizza sauce over the patty.
Layer 4: Arrange 4-6 slices of pepperoni on top and sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese.
Layer 5: Broil the assembled burger for 1-2 minutes, just until the cheese bubbles and melts.
Top: Finish with another portobello cap or the keto bun top.
Optional Additions:

Sprinkle with fresh basil, oregano, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
Add toppings like sautéed mushrooms, black olives, or baby spinach for more variety.
