Weight Watchers Friendly Garbage Bread

222 9 819x1024 1 Blog

A lighter take on the classic cheeseburger-style stuffed bread.

WW Ingredient Swaps

To keep the points down while keeping all the flavor:

  • Ground beef → 99% lean ground turkey or chicken
  • French bread dough → Reduced-fat pizza dough OR 2-ingredient dough
  • American cheese → 4 slices reduced-fat cheese
  • Bacon → turkey bacon (crumbled)
  • Sauces → keep small amounts (they’re surprisingly pointy!)
  • Dipping sauce → light Thousand Island or yogurt-based version

 WW-Friendly Garbage Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 99% lean ground turkey or chicken
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb light pizza dough or 2-ingredient dough
(2 cups self-rising flour + 2 cups nonfat Greek yogurt)
  • 3 tbsp ketchup (reduced sugar if desired)
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 4 slices reduced-fat American cheese
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 chopped dill pickle spears
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing — optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Light Thousand Island for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Cook filling: Brown the turkey and onion, seasoning with salt and pepper. Drain if needed.
  3. Roll dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle.
  4. Spread sauces thinly: ketchup + mustard.
  5. Layer: cooked turkey mixture → turkey bacon → pickles → cheese.
  6. Roll tightly from the long side and place seam-side down on the tray.
  7. Brush with egg (optional) and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Cool 5 minutes, then slice and serve with light Thousand Island.

 Estimated WW Points

About 5–7 points per slice when cut into 8 pieces.
(This depends mainly on the dough you use — 2-ingredient dough is the lowest in points!)
