Super soft stovetop flatbread made with simple ingredients โ no yeast, no rising, no oven.
โญ Ingredients
For the Dough
- 4 cups (480g) flour
- 1 cup (220g) yogurt (plain)
- 1 cup (200ml) water
- 1 packet (10g) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon (8g) salt
- 1 tablespoon (10ml) vegetable oil
Optional:
- 1 teaspoon sugar (helps browning)
- 1 tablespoon extra oil or butter for brushing cooked bread
๐ง Instructions
1. Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add yogurt, water, and vegetable oil.
- Mix with a spoon, then knead with your hands for 2โ3 minutes until a soft, smooth dough forms.
- If too sticky โ add a little flour.
- If too dry โ add 1โ2 tbsp water.
2. Shape the Bread
- Divide the dough into 8โ10 equal balls.
- Lightly flour your surface.
- Roll each ball into a circle (about ยฝ cm thick).
3. Cook on the Stovetop
- Heat a nonstick pan or griddle on medium-high heat.
- Place one rolled dough circle into the hot pan.
- Cook for 1โ2 minutes, until bubbles form and the bottom has golden spots.
- Flip and cook the other side for 1โ2 minutes.
- Remove and brush with butter or oil (optional for extra softness).
- Repeat with remaining dough.

- For extra softness, cover cooked bread with a clean towel.
- For a naan-like flavor, add 1โ2 tbsp yogurt extra + 1 tbsp melted butter.
- To make them puffy like pita, roll evenly and cook on high heat.
