Quick Description

This silky, fluffy chocolate mousse is made with just a few ingredients and is perfect for any occasion. Light yet rich, itโ€™s the ideal treat for chocolate lovers!

Servings & Timing

  • Yield: 4โ€“6 servings
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Chill Time: 2 hours
  • Total Time: ~2 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa or your preference)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar (or granulated sugar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 large egg yolk (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate โ€“ In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate gently over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Once melted, set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Whip the cream โ€“ In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until soft peaks form. Donโ€™t overwhip.
  3. Prepare the chocolate mixture โ€“ If using an egg yolk, whisk it into the melted chocolate, then stir in the vanilla extract. Let the chocolate cool for a few minutes so it doesnโ€™t melt the cream.
  4. Fold the chocolate and cream together โ€“ Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate, making sure you donโ€™t deflate the mixture.
  5. Chill โ€“ Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the mousse to set.
  6. Serve โ€“ Once chilled, garnish with shaved chocolate, whipped cream, or berries if desired, and enjoy!
