  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices, chopped
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For the Topping

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the filling
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat with chopped onion and bell pepper until browned.
Drain excess grease, then season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.
  3. Prepare the dough
Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Assemble the garbage bread
Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Sprinkle mozzarella, Parmesan, and chopped pepperoni over the meat mixture.
  5. Roll and seal
Carefully roll the dough lengthwise into a tight log, sealing the edges.
Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Egg wash & bake
Brush the top of the roll with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through.
  7. Rest & serve
Let the bread rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
