Ingredients
For the Filling
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- ½ cup onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup pepperoni slices, chopped
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp black pepper
For the Topping
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions

Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. -
Cook the filling
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat with chopped onion and bell pepper until browned.
Drain excess grease, then season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper. -
Prepare the dough
Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface. -
Assemble the garbage bread
Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Sprinkle mozzarella, Parmesan, and chopped pepperoni over the meat mixture. -
Roll and seal
Carefully roll the dough lengthwise into a tight log, sealing the edges.
Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. -
Egg wash & bake
Brush the top of the roll with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through. -
Rest & serve
Let the bread rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
