Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken
Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 15 mins | Servings: 2-3
Ingredients
The Base:
- Chicken: 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Veggies: 1/2 lb fresh green beans (trimmed).
- Garnish: Toasted sesame seeds, sliced green onions, and a sprig of fresh dill (as seen in the photo).
The Sauce:
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tbsp honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sriracha (optional, for a hint of heat)
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. For extra crispiness, lightly toss them in 1 tbsp of cornstarch.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer. Cook for 5โ7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Blanch the Beans: While the chicken cooks, steam or boil your green beans for 3โ4 minutes until tender-crisp, then drain.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet used for the chicken, turn the heat to medium and pour in your whisked sauce ingredients. Let it simmer for 1โ2 minutes until it starts to thicken into a glossy glaze.
- Combine: Toss the chicken back into the pan to coat it thoroughly in the sauce.
- Assemble: Serve the chicken alongside the green beans and rice. Pour any remaining sauce from the pan over the beans. Top with sesame seeds and green onions
