Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (NOT hot)
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup melted butter
For Brushing
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1–2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast
- Add warm milk to a bowl.
- Mix in the condensed milk and melted butter.
- Sprinkle yeast on top.
- Let sit 5–8 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, add flour and salt.
- Pour in the yeast mixture + egg.
- Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes in a mixer) until smooth and stretchy.
3. First Rise
- Place dough in an oiled bowl.
- Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
4. Shape the Rolls
- Punch dough down.
- Divide into 12–15 equal balls for rolls, or shape into 1 loaf.
- Place into a greased baking dish.
5. Second Rise
- Cover and rise another 35–45 minutes until puffy and touching.
6. Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake 18–22 minutes until golden brown and glossy.
7. Brush With Condensed Milk Glaze
In a small bowl:
- Mix melted butter + condensed milk.
Brush rolls while hot.
Dust lightly with powdered sugar if desired.
