Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 fresh rosemary sprigs, or 1 tsp dried rosemary
- ½–1 inch fresh ginger, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1–2 tsp honey, optional
- 1 small cinnamon stick, optional
Instructions
- Bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
- Add the rosemary, ginger, and cinnamon if using.
- Reduce the heat and simmer gently for 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat, cover, and steep for another 5 minutes.
- Strain into cups.
- Stir in fresh lemon juice and add honey to taste.
- Serve warm.
Iced Version
Prepare as above, allow it to cool, refrigerate, and serve over ice with a lemon slice and fresh rosemary.
Important Note
The herb shown is rosemary. Calling rosemary tea “natural morphine” is misleading. It may be a pleasant herbal drink, but it has not been shown to act like morphine or to treat gout, rheumatism, cellulite, or significant joint/muscle pain. Gout in particular can require medical treatment.
