Smooth, rich, velvety chocolate mousse served in jars with chocolate shavings and berries.
Ingredients (Serves 2–3 Jars)
For the Chocolate Mousse:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
For Topping:
- Fresh raspberries or strawberries (optional)
- Chocolate shavings or curls
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
1. Melt the Chocolate
- Add the chocolate chips and butter to a heat-safe bowl.
- Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth and glossy.
- Let it cool for 5–7 minutes (important so it doesn’t melt the cream later).
2. Whip the Cream
- In a mixing bowl, add the cold heavy cream, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla.
- Beat using a hand mixer for 2–3 minutes, until stiff peaks form.
- Do NOT over-whip — it should be fluffy, not grainy.
3. Fold the Chocolate Into the Cream
- Pour the cooled melted chocolate into the whipped cream.
- Gently fold using a spatula until fully combined and smooth.
- The mixture should turn into a fluffy, chocolate mousse consistency.
4. Assemble the Jars
- Spoon or pipe the mousse into glass jars.
- Tap jars gently to remove air pockets.
- Add chocolate shavings on top.
- Chill for 1–2 hours for best texture (optional but recommended).
5. Add Final Toppings
Before serving, top with:
- Fresh raspberries
- More chocolate curls
- A little powdered sugar on top
Storage
- Refrigerate up to 3 days.
- Keep covered to prevent drying.
