Keto Tuna Melt Fries Recipe

Capture 3 Blog

You know that tuna melt sandwich you love? What if you could turn it into crispy, crunchy fries? That’s exactly what these are.

They’re golden, cheesy, and packed with tuna and cheddar, with a bright hit of lemon that keeps them from tasting heavy. The outside gets crispy while the inside stays tender and melty. Dip them in ranch, eat them straight off the pan (no judgment), or crumble them over a salad. They’re perfect for when you need a snack that actually sticks with you.

What You’ll Need:

2 cans (5 oz each) Tuna, drained really well (shredded chicken works too if tuna isn’t your thing)

1 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese (freshly grated melts way better than pre-shredded)

1 Large Egg (holds everything together)

1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice (plus a little zest if you’re feeling fancy)

2 Green Onions, finely chopped

½ tsp Garlic Powder

Salt and Black Pepper to taste

Optional: Pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes for heat

👩‍🍳 How to Make Them:

Get ready: Heat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Don’t use foil—these will stick like crazy.

Mix it up: In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, cheddar, egg, lemon juice, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix it well until it forms a sticky, cohesive mixture.

Shape them: Grab small handfuls and roll them into little logs, about 3 inches long. Place them on the baking sheet with a little space between each one.

Bake: 15–20 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they’re deeply golden brown and crispy.

Let them cool: Give them about 5 minutes on the pan. They get even crispier as they cool down, so patience pays off here.

💡 A Few Things I’ve Learned:

Mixture too dry? Tuna brands vary a lot. If it’s too crumbly to shape, just splash in a little cream or broth to loosen it up.

Drain that tuna well: I’m serious. If it’s watery, these will steam instead of crisp up. Press it with a paper towel if you need to get it extra dry.

Use parchment paper: These cheesy sticks will stick to everything else. Parchment = easy cleanup and no lost fries.

Make a dipping sauce: Mix sugar-free mayo with lemon juice, hot sauce, and garlic powder. It’s the perfect match for these.
