Ingredients
- 1 loaf crusty bread (baguette or ciabatta), sliced about ¾-inch thick
- 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced or diced
- ⅔ cup shredded mozzarella
(or 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced) - 1–2 garlic cloves, halved
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- ¼ cup fresh basil, torn or sliced
- Dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Bread
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
Toast for 5–7 minutes until lightly golden and crisp.
2. Add Garlic Flavor
While the bread is still warm, rub each slice with the cut side of the garlic cloves.
3. Add Toppings
Top each slice with:
- Tomatoes
- Mozzarella
- A sprinkle of salt and black pepper
- Optional oregano or Italian seasoning
4. Melt the Cheese
Return to the oven for 3–5 minutes until the cheese melts slightly.
