Ingredients
For the Marinade
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
For the Appetizer
- 8 oz block of cheese, cut into cubes
(Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, or mozzarella all work) - ½ cup sliced salami
- ½ cup sliced pickles or cornichons
- Optional additions:
- Thinly sliced red onion
- Fresh herbs (parsley, basil)
- Cherry peppers
- Olives

Prepare the marinade:
In a small bowl or jar, whisk together Dijon mustard, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper until well combined. -
Combine the ingredients:
In a medium bowl or shallow dish, add the cubed cheese, salami slices, and pickles. -
Pour the marinade:
Drizzle the marinade over the cheese mixture.
Toss gently with a spoon or shake if using a lidded container, making sure everything is evenly coated. -
Marinate:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 24 hours for deeper flavor.
Stir once or twice if possible to redistribute the marinade. -
Serve:
Transfer to a serving platter or bowl.
Serve with toothpicks, crackers, or crostini.
Tips
- For stronger flavor, marinate overnight.
- Use a variety of cheeses for a colorful platter.
- Add red chili flakes for a spicy twist.
