Ingredients:
- 3 large potatoes, boiled and sliced
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 400g (14 oz) cooked meatballs (beef, pork, or a mix)
- 1โ2 cups shredded cheese (Gruyรจre, Emmental, or mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or herbs de Provence (optional)
- ยฝ cup cream or milk (optional, for extra creaminess)

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 200ยฐC (390ยฐF). -
Prepare Potatoes & Onion:
Boil the potatoes until just tender (about 10โ15 minutes). Slice into ยฝ-inch rounds.
Sautรฉ chopped onion in olive oil until soft and slightly caramelized. -
Layer the Bake:
- Grease a baking dish with butter or oil.
- Layer half the potato slices at the bottom.
- Add half the meatballs on top.
- Sprinkle half the onions and season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, meatballs, and onions.

Add Cheese & Cream:
- Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
- Pour cream or milk evenly over the dish if using.

- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 10โ15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbling.
